The Libra Internship Program Welcomes its Winter 2019 Cohort

New York, January 30 2019 –  This winter, the Libra Internship Program (LIP) welcomed 22 Winter 2019 interns which came from 7 countries and will be placed in 5 cities across 3 countries. The program kicked off in late January with a week-long orientation week in New York, NY. The interns met with over 30 speakers, completed several professional development workshops and participated in a series of team-building activities in the office and around the city. The interns had the opportunity to hear from many Libra executives including Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, George M. Logothetis; Chief Investment Officer, Fidel Andueza and Chief Strategy Officer, Phaedra Chrousos. The sessions also included an intern alumni panel, where past Libra interns shared their experience and offered advice.

“During orientation week, I met other young people coming from different countries and cultures. We learned more about Libra, its subsidiaries and the internship program through various representatives ranging from executives to intern alumni. For me, it was an amazing and unique experience, and I’m proud to be part of the Winter 2019 Intern Cohort.”   – Gérald, Winter 2019 Libra Social Responsibility Intern

This is the sixteenth cohort of LIP to enter the program. LIP is a unique opportunity for students to undertake a paid placement with the Libra Group and its subsidiaries around the world. The objective is to provide opportunities for students to further develop the skills that will help define their future while they learn about our businesses and management philosophy. One of the features of the program is that interns are assigned to a dedicated mentor and “buddy” to support and guide them within their role helping them reach their full potential.

“Prior to their arrival, our interns connect with their mentors and buddies to introduce themselves and seek guidance on how to prepare for their placements. By connecting to their mentors early on and participating in an intensive orientation week, our aim is to help our interns ease their transition to the workplace.” – Quinn Smeaton, Libra Social Responsibility Program Manager & Intern Mentor

Each intern contributed to orientation by helping to create a diverse atmosphere with their personalities, backgrounds and experiences. They participated actively in every panel by asking questions to each speaker. They also spent time getting to know one other socially and exploring the city together. On the last day of orientation, all interns traveled to their placement cities, including Athens, Miami, London, Washington, DC and New York. The internship program will run through May 10th.

Libra Social Responsibility is proud of the Winter 2019 Interns and wishes them the best for the internship and their future careers!
