Envolve at MBK Rising!
Oakland, March 1, 2019 – Envolve Entrepreneurship CEO, Christopher R. Upperman, proudly represented his organization and participated at the Obama Foundation’s MBK Rising! in Oakland in February.
Mr. Upperman moderated a panel entitled, “The Grind: Entrepreneurships in Action,” where unconventional and untraditional ways of fundraising were discussed in an energetic and open environment and entrepreneurship met collaboration and innovation.
MBK Rising! brought together hundreds of young men of color and leaders working to break down barriers that too often leave boys and young men of color at a disadvantage. From a town hall conversation with President Obama and Steph Curry where young men could ask questions, to a candid conversation on the interconnectedness of race, gender, and sexual orientation, the gathering created moments to celebrate progress and rally people near and far to continue the work of building a bright future for each and every one of us.
Libra is a founding sponsor for the MBK Alliance, a nonprofit organization aimed at eliminating opportunity and achievement gaps for boys and young men of color. A worthy initiative that focuses on a group of young men who are particularly vulnerable and need targeted support to stay on track.
