Concordia COVID-19 Webinar Series: Mastercard Therapeutics Accelerator
March 26, 2020 – On March 10th, a day before the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic and two days before the U.S. declared a national emergency, Mastercard, alongside the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Wellcome Trust, launched the COVID-19 Therapeutics Accelerator. The Accelerator, designed to bring together resources and expertise in order to rapidly accelerate a treatment for COVID-19, represents one of the first high profile partnerships in response to the outbreak. This partnership brings together non-profit and private sector partners to collectively work together to develop, produce, scale, and distribute therapies, even in the face of significant financial barriers to R&D. These partners have brought their collective resources and experience together to design a path forward that could save millions around the world.
Moderated by Matthew Swift, Concordia Co-Founder, Chairman & CEO, we’ll hear first hand from Shamina Singh, Founder & President of the Center for Inclusive Growth and Executive Vice President of Corporate Sustainability at Mastercard about the Accelerator; how it came to be, the progress achieved, and what’s still needed from partners in the global health and funding spaces.
