Concordia Announces 2020 Leadership Award for the Nonprofit Sector
New York, August 6, 2020 – Every year, Concordia presents the Concordia Leadership Award to three changemakers across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
We have a winner. We’re proud to present the 2020 Leadership Award for the Nonprofit Sector to Christiana Figueres. She’s an environmental pioneer, a world-renowned nonprofit expert, and—true to Concordia’s core mission—a key creator of cross-sector partnerships.
Ms. Figueres is the former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). A seasoned climate activist, she played a number of key roles in the governance of the UNFCCC before joining the Secretariat. She was instrumental to the orchestration of the 2015 Paris Agreement—yes, the Paris Agreement. She has forged partnerships between governments, corporations, activists, and NGOs to fight the climate crisis, campaigned and advocated tirelessly for the cutting of global emissions, and advanced social good through her enterprise Global Optimism, which focuses on encouraging positive social and environmental change.
Ms. Figueres will be accepting the Leadership Award at our 10th Anniversary Celebration. We hope you’ll join us to commemorate her decades-long commitment to social impact.
