The Americas Summit provides an international forum through which to address the immediate humanitarian, economic, and political issues impacting the Western Hemisphere. Welcoming renowned political and business leaders, academic experts, and non-governmental representatives, this year’s Americas Summit will explore a diverse range of timely issues spanning the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Venezuela to Latin America’s status as the globe’s next hub of technological innovation.
The 2019 Americas Summit is the culmination of years of work developing our Americas Initiative. Officially launched at our 2016 Americas Summit in Miami, the Americas Initiative has seen us host our first-ever international summit in Bogotá in 2017, bringing together Colombia’s past three presidents—President Juan Manuel Santos Calderón and former Presidents Álvaro Uribe Vélez and Andrés Pastrana Arango—for the first time in five years. In 2018, it saw us provide the first major international convening following the country’s presidential election and allowed us to play a small—but critical—role in the transfer of power.
Building off of our platform in the region, this year’s Americas Summit will carry on many of the discussions from 2018. It also mark the opening of Concordia’s first international office in Bogotá, which is an important milestone, enabling Concordia to develop its on-the-ground presence and enhance its near-term impact.
We look forward to seeing you on May 13-14, 2019 in Bogotá!
